I thought I'd start up one of the most popular threads from the old board as it was a great way of getting recommendations etc so what book are you currently reading?

I'm currently rereading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling.

I always have a few books on the go. I'm reading "The Book of Atheist Spirituality" by Andre Comte-Sponville (no, it's not a contradiction in terms!); "The New York Chronology" and "How the Irish Became White" as part of the research into my new novel; "The Watchmen", a comic book novel that my son, Ross, persuaded me to read - and I'm glad he did. And finally, "When Will There Be Good News" by Kate Atkinson. Which seems like a good title to be reading in these bad-news days!

I'm currently reading Shattered Dreams by Irene Spencer. It's a book about polygamist marriages and is a real eye opener.
I'm currently reading Burnt Sunshine by Estelle Pinney. I read Estelle's first book On the Hill a couple of years ago and thought it was her one and only, but have since found she has written others too which I will now go looking for. Her stories are set in Australia, mainly in Qld where she comes from. She is in her 80s now and lives with her daughter in Brisbane but still writing....which is wonderful!
Burnt Sunshine is set in 1930s during depression and later war time. Am up to Chapter 4 and loving it so far.

I started a reread of them because I went for a few weeks without really reading anything and I kind of missed it. So I started reading the first one in the series in the hope that it would help me get my reading mojo back. It worked but now I have this need to reread all them, although I am alternating between them and my tbr.
I can't imagine you not reading Karen!!
It happens every now and again where I go for the odd week here and there when I don't even pick up a book.
I've just started Melissa Hill's Before I Forget. I was always a fan and have read all her books, but the writing style is starting to feel less than colourful. The twists are fantastic, but the writing in the journey to the twist is overwritten IMO. I hope this doesn't sound overly critical - obviously, she's an amazing writer in many ways. I bet the twist will be awesome, though!
